Pediatric Education & Skills Workshop

February 6th, 2026 at Polk County Emergency Management (1907 Carpenter Ave, Des Moines)

To be held at Polk County Emergency Management Program will include presentations on the latest in assessing & managing pediatric emergencies. Registration opens on December 16th and closes at 11:00AM on January 23rd!

Morning Session: Lecture

🕘 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

  • Pediatric concepts, assessment, and case review
  • Limited to 60 participants

Lunch on your own

Afternoon Session: Hands-On Skills

🕐 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

  • Practical pediatric skills stations
  • Limited to 30 participants
  • Must attend the morning session to participate

Cost: FREE

CEs will be provided

Social Hour

🕟 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM

  • Networking & refreshments

NREMT Refresher Conference

For over 20 years, the Central Iowa EMS Service Directors (CIEMSD) have proudly hosted the Refresher, providing high-quality, in-person continuing education for EMS providers at all levels. Throughout its history, the Refresher has evolved to meet changing educational requirements and the needs of our attendees.

However, in recent years, interest in a multi-day, in-person format has declined significantly. Despite our continued commitment to high-quality instruction, attendance and engagement levels have reached a point where the traditional format no longer effectively serves the CIEMSD community.

After careful consideration and review of available options, the CIEMSD Training Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming Refresher, originally scheduled for February 2026.

We understand this may come as a disappointment, and we’re sharing this information early to ensure everyone has sufficient time to explore alternative continuing education options ahead of upcoming recertification deadlines.

Although the traditional Refresher is being retired, the CIEMSD Training Committee remains committed to delivering high-quality continuing education—tailored to better align with the evolving needs and preferences of today’s EMS professionals.
